Obruk is a village north east of Konya and these weavings show the influence of Yoruk nomads who live in the area. This is a very decorative and beautiful wool on wool Kilim with a directional prayer niche design in amazing strong navy blue colours - it is handwoven using using fine slit weave Kilim technique. This flatweave traditional rug from Turkey measures approximately 149x215cm (4.10½ x 7.0½ft) - we love the sturdy nature of this piece as well as the stunning colourful border and prayer design - this individual, one of a kind Rug from Turkey is semi-antique ie c.1950s.
