Vintage hand-knotted Turkish wool rug from Malatya, an apricot growing region of Eastern Anatolia. Hand woven - 100% Wool on Wool. These authentic rugs from Malatya tend to have excellent soft and superior wool quality together with bold, simple designs. This one of a kind, traditional rug from Turkey measures approximately 53x55cm (1.9 x 1.9½ft) excluding any tassels - this is a very unusual little rug having a cream background which isn't found so often in vintage Turkish rugs, it is quite old and has a lower fine pile but not worn in any way. Malatya is one of the largest cities of central-eastern Anatolia, between the steppes of Central Anatolia and the rugged terrain of Eastern Anatolia. This region is renowned for its amazing apricot orchards, some of the best organic apricots come out of this region. Rugs have been produced in this area for 100's of years although much less so in recent times.
