Konya is the ancient capital of Seljuk Empire and is situated on the great trade route expanding from China to Constantinople and is famous for its Rugs and Kilims which make great, functional, and decorative interior floor coverings. Some of the oldest surviving examples of Anatolian Turkish Rugs are from this area and the designs are very diverse in that many villages used to weave and would have had their own unique patterns.
