Turkish Kilim Rug handwoven in the Mut region of Southern Turkey (they are also known as Kelims). This traditional kilim is woven using flat weave kilim technique and measures approximately 74x118cm (2.5 x 3.10½ft) excluding any tassels - we love the simple, uncluttered design in natural soft browns and beige colours. These flat woven rugs were originally made by the migratory Taurus Yoruks who were of Central Asian Turkic origin. Today the Yoruks lead a semi-nomadic way of life in the southern Taurus mountain region of Anatolia, moving between summer and winter pastures where they set up their encampments (Yayla). Mut Kilims are not generally woven for export but are woven for the own use of the weaver.
