Exceptional long vintage hand-woven Turkish Maras Kilim Wool Runner from Eastern Turkey. Maras is a Kurdish City near the Syrian border which has played a great role during the independence of Turkish Republic and has been bestowed with a name “hero” hence “Kahraman Maras”. This region has a mix of different ethnic peoples who have been living alongside each other and have created a centre for producing many different things such as metal work and handicrafts including rugs and Kilims. Maras does not produce many pile knotted rugs but has in the past produced many attractive flat-weaves of various types.
