Large vintage handwoven Turkish kilim (Kelim) rug from Denizli - an authentic nomadic wool rug. Handmade using flat slit weave Kilim technique. This flat-woven vintage Kilim from Turkey measures approximately 210x242cm (6.10½ x 7.11ft) excluding any fringes - a one of a kind piece and semi-antique - this piece is quite a rare semi antique rug and not found often, its a great almost square size which is unusual and has the most wonderful intricate pattern full of emblems and motifs, you will never get bored looking at this interesting kelim. See more about Rug Motifs, Symbols & Meaning here.

This piece was woven in the environs of a town called Denizli, in Turkey's Western Usak Province. Denizli is a City in the high country between the Aegean and Mediterranean regions of western of Turkey - these Kilims are woven by Turkmen Yoruk tribes, the descendants of the Turkic tribes that settled in Anatolia hundreds of years ago.  Apart from Kilim weaving, Denizli is also famous for its Hammam towel production.  For information on our underlays look here.
