Product Information

Gorgeous hand-knotted Turkish Village made pile rug from Adana in Southern Turkey. Hand-knotted using hand-spun local village wool, making it beautifully soft and lush!  This traditional pile rug from Turkey is an authentic semi-antique piece and measures approximately 116x184cm (3.10 x 6.0½ft) excluding any fringes - this is a real beauty, it has warm deep burgundy colours and a date of 1974 together with a name of Serif Koyuncu woven into it. "Koyuncu" means person who looks after sheep! See more about Rug Motifs, Symbols & Meaning here.

Adana is a large city in southern Turkey which is inland from the Mediterranean, in south-central Anatolia.  Being a cotton growing area, Adana has cotton readily available which is often used to weave brightly coloured emblems into some of their weavings - we love this because dyed cotton doesn't fade like wool, so the bright colours always stand out against the wool for many years.  Of course, Adana is also famous for its kebabs! For information on our Rug Underlays look here.
