7964 Turkish Flatweave Cal Kilim 159x244cm (5.2½ x 8ft)

Village made original and traditional Turkish Cal Kilim - a gorgeous Kilim - one of our favourites!! Hand-woven wool in the flat-weave and slitweave technique and measuring approx 159cm by 244cm excluding any fringes. Cal is a small town north-east of Denizli known for weaving both flat-woven and pile knotted rugs although not many rugs are now made in this area. Kilims from the Cal region are quite unusual and have interesting patterns and colours such as orange and blues and but can also be seen with warm, hot tones, making them quite distinctive Kilims. Cal Kilims have their own unusual designs, commonly having a central medallion on a fairly open ground but there can be exceptions to this. You certainly will not see two that look the same! This Cal Kilim is semi-antique ie approx 50 years of age.
