Large Authentic Persian Turkoman Carpet - these gorgeous semi antique carpets are from Khorassan (meaning "coming of the sun"), a province in north eastern Persia.  They are wool on wool and have excellent wool quality giving a beautiful soft pile.  Mostly these handmade Persian rugs would be in rich shades of red, terracottas or browns with hints of creams, blacks, blue or greens. The design is normally a very distinctive geometric Tekke or Yomut all over design, descriptions taken from the names of the Turkoman Tribes that live in north east Persia. These sheep rearing tribes would live on pasturelands throughout Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Afghanistan but many also live on the northern steppes of Persia.
