Tribal Afghan Baluchi carpet saddlebag from Afghanistan. Originally used for storage and also during tribal migration, however today they make great storage either over a chair or on the wall. They also make lovely wall hangings. This small carpet Afghan saddlebag measures approximately 32x78cm excluding tassels - we love the gorgeous green kilim reverse and blue carpet pile together with the bright colourful tassels on this folk art saddlebag. Note: although this piece has been washed and is clean it has some markings that haven't come out in the wash.
Saddlebags feature two kilim or carpet pouches and can vary in size from small like this one to very large sizes - the large sizes would be the ones used over animals for transporting items. This tribal group from Afghanistan are also known as Beluch, Balouch, Belouch, Baluchi, Belouchi to name a few!
