An authentic Turkish Obruk hand-woven Kilim Runner Rug from the Konya region of Turkey - a long Kilim for hallways and corridors, or narrow spaces. Flatwoven using flatweave Kilim technique as well as decorative cicim weft wrapping in 100% wool. Obruk is a village north east of Konya in Central Anatolia and these weavings show the influence of Yoruk nomads who live in the area. Traditionally Kilims from this region come in a wide range of designs - we love the strong sturdy nature of this piece and the usual wide runner like size! This original vintage Kilim runner rug from Turkey measures approximately 105x259cm (3.5 x 8.6ft).
Konya is the ancient capital of Seljuk Empire and is situated on the great trade route expanding from China to Constantinople and is famous for its Rugs and Kilims which make great, functional and decorative interior floor coverings. Some of the oldest surviving examples of Anatolian Turkish Kilims are from this area and the designs are very diverse in that many villages used to weave and would have had their own unique patterns.
