Original long narrow pelmet Uzbek Suzani embroidery - a Central Asian textile from Uzbekistan. This authentic decorative needlepoint has been embroidered by hand and measures approximately 70x562cm (2.3½ x 18.5ft) - we love this embroidery, it has the most gorgeous floral pattern and needlework, it has a nice red background and colourful design in a Zoroastrian style. This could be used around a door or window, as a long table runner or round a four poster bed, amongst other things! Depending on the shape and size, these Suzani textiles make great table covers, bed covers, or can be used over the back of a sofa or as a wall hanging - these vintage textiles offer a delightful pop of colour for enhancing your interior spaces.
Suzani means needlepoint in Farsi and the background fabric of these textiles is usually either cotton, velvet, silk or satin with silk embroidery. Minor tears or marks can sometimes be present which is normal for these vintage older pieces (some of them have old Soviet fabric backing - see images). All of our Uzbekistan Suzanis are original older pieces ranging from approximately 20 to 70 years.
