Handwoven Vintage Turkish Kilim (Kelim) Rug from Cal - an authentic village made rug in a stripe design. Handmade in wool using flatweave Cicim Kilim technique. This flat-woven Kilim from Turkey measures approximately 178x266cm (5.10 x 8.8½ft) - we love the soft pale stripes and bright cicim embellished motifs in this piece. Cal is a small town north-east of Denizli which is known for weaving both flat-woven and pile knotted rugs although not many rugs are now made in this area. Denizli is a Province in the high country between the Aegean and Mediterranean regions western of Turkey - these Kilims are woven by Turkmen Yoruk tribes - the descendants of the Turkic tribes that settled in Anatolia hundreds of years ago.
