Vintage village traditional Turkish Denizli Cal Kilim Rug. This is an original and authentic piece hand-woven in wool using the kilim flatweave weave technique and measuring approx 180x304cm (5.10½ x 9.11½ft) excluding any fringes. Cal is a small town north-east of Denizli known for weaving both flat-woven and pile knotted rugs although not many rugs are now made in this area. Kilims from the Cal region are quite unusual and have interesting geometric patterns and colours such as burnt orange, terracottas and blues. Cal Kilims have their own unusual designs, commonly having a central medallion on a fairly open ground but there can be exceptions to this.
