Product Information

Stunning traditional village made Pamukkale Turkish Kilim Rug woven in the flat slit-weave technique. This unique wool Kelim rug from Turkey is an authentic vintage piece and measures approx 104x153cm (3.5 x 5ft) - this is one of our favourites - the green prayer niche is so beautiful against the other autumnal colours, this rug also has a Tree of Life Pattern within the central niche. The tassels are very decorative and it would look fabulous on the wall, in fact we think it has been hung before as there is a loop woven onto the right hand side - see the image! See more about Rug Motifs, Symbols & Meaning here.

This piece was woven in the environs of a town called Denizli, in Turkey's Western Usak Province - Pamukkale (cotton castle translated from Turkish), is a site renowned for its hot springs which have created white travertine terraces over many years.  Denizli is a City in the high country between the Aegean and Mediterranean regions of western of Turkey - these Kilims are woven by Turkmen Yoruk tribes - the descendants of the Turkic tribes that settled in Anatolia hundreds of years ago.  Apart from Kilim weaving, Denizli is also famous for its Hammam towel production.
