Product Information

A very long natural simple vintage Turkish Konya hand-woven Kilim Rug from the Konya region of Turkey - Flat woven using the Kilim technique. Traditionally Kilims from the Konya region come in a wide range of designs from very intricate, prayer designs, they can also be very simple and rustic. This original vintage wool Kilim rug from Turkey measures approximately 145x382cm (4.9 x 12.6½ft) excluding any fringes - we love the unusual long length of this natural weave, it has a lovely wool quality and just has natural un-dyed wool colours of beige, creams and browns, just what you find on sheep! Note: with a small amount of work we could split this long piece into two if you wanted two rugs that worked together.  Just get in touch to find out more.  Find out about Rug Motifs, Symbols & Meaning here.

Konya is the ancient capital of Seljuk Empire and is situated on the great trade route expanding from China to Constantinople and is famous for its Rugs and Kilims which make great, functional and decorative interior floor coverings. Some of the oldest surviving examples of Anatolian Turkish Kilims are from this area and the designs are very diverse in that many villages used to weave and would have had their own unique patterns.
