Maras is a Kurdish City near the Syrian border which has played a great role during the independence of Turkish Republic and has been bestowed with a name “hero” hence “Kahraman Maras”. This region has a mix of different ethnic peoples who have been living alongside each other and have created a centre for producing many different things such as metal work and handicrafts including rugs and Kilims.
