October News

Just a short update now we are really into the run up to Christmas - although we had a great buying trip in Turkey a few weeks ago, we are still waiting for everything to be made and shipped so we will be in touch when that arrives.

We couldn't resist this little cat "Pasha" who helped us choose!

In the meantime, our Ottoman Earrings have been made and have arrived and we wanted to get a great selection onto our website including the new designs. We have also added some lovely hand embroidered Suzani Embroideries and a small but beautiful selection of Rugs. Check out our Latest Arrivals Section HERE to see them. Our main delivery of Kilims, Poufs, Cushions & Lamps will arrive in due course.

Bits & Bobs

We have been putting a few final tweeks to our new website, now you can search for your perfect Rug or Kilim using our new search function - we would pleased to hear any feedback you may have.  

We have had a very busy summer and we are now getting ready for a buying trip to top up some of our stock, we hope to be getting more draught excluders made as well as kilim cushions, and of course, will be hunting out some lovely Vintage Turkish Kilim Rugs!  Jewellery is also popular at Christmas time so we will be commissioning some beautiful earrings and necklaces from the Turkish and Afghan artisans we continue to work with. New Website Etc!

We wanted to let everyone know we have a lovely new website which includes better search filters for Rugs, Kilim Cushions etc.  We hope you will take a look to see it in action!

We have also added some new stock to our website which includes some larger sized Turkish Kilim Cushions, a great selection of Afghan Baluch Carpet Cushions, Large Turkish Floor Cushions and a limited number of Rugs too.

Turkish Buying Trip News

Turkish Buying Trip News

We know people like to be updated when there is any news, no matter how small, so this is what we have been up to over the last couple of months...

We have been off on a small buying trip to Turkey which was also a family visit which meant we could pick up a small stock of the wonderful wool patiks that Mahmut's mum makes for us, here is a picture of her making them - CLICK IMAGE TO SEE VIDEO OF MUM MAKING THEM ON INSTAGRAM!

We also stocked up on our lovely Boxwood Spoons - All Hand made and individual.  The Wood Bazaar is an amazing place to wonder around and we just wish we had space for those lovely bowls, but we had to leave them behind! See our Spoon section here - prices start at £2.95.

Oh and the cat was tired of playing with string!!

We were also very short on our gorgeous hand painted ceramics so made a visit to our supplier and selected a great stock of bowls, mugs, hotplates and coasters.  These are not on our website Im afraid but they are in our Brighton Shop, if you would like more info do get in touch by calling 01273 671900 or emailing us.

Our Gold Plated Ottoman Earrings have also been very popular over the years; we have artisans making them for us in Turkey and whilst on this buying trip we picked up the beautiful new pieces they had waiting for us, here is an example of what they are like - We have some on our website here or please call us on 01273 671900 or email us if you would like more info/section. Prices from £15 a pair.

These Uzbek Silk Ikat Bags are so beautiful, soft and padded - very glamourous for the evening! At £25 each they are available if you contact us on 01273 671900 or by email. We can send you images of each individual piece.

Last, but not least, we have started up cycling old footstools into stunning Turkish Kilim Footstools, we are only making a few at a time, but here is an example of what they are like, each piece will be individual - they are not on our website but you can contact us on 01273 671900 or email us for more info.

After all that work buying and finding gorgeous items for our shop we were ready for some tasty Turkish food and dessert!

This is a famous Dessert straight from the oven called Kunefe.

A Small Update...

We have updated our Rug Underlay Section to include more increments that you can purchase your anti slip underlay in, previously we were selling our underlay in 50cm increments but now it can be purchased in 25cm increments.

In addition, we have also uploaded a few very beautiful Persian Tribal Rugs to our site, they can all be viewed in our Latest Arrivals Section HERE.  Below are a few examples how beautiful and unusual these new additions to our site are!

Carpet & Rug Photography

Now with all the festivities far behind us we have been planning and getting ready for the year ahead.  Our first job after New Year was to test out a new space we have taken on for photographing our products.  To photograph rugs you need lots of room and this new space was ideal, especially with the lovely rustic light wood floorboards which makes a great backdrop for our Carpets & Kilims. After we photograph each piece we bring them into our Brighton shop priced and ready for sale. Here are some images of the work in progress:

Winter Update

Hello all, this is our Winter Update on what we have been up to over the last quarter. It has been a very busy time to say the least with a wonderful Persian buying trip, finding some truly stunning unusual rugs and more of our popular Persian Kilim Stools.  We also had a trip to Turkey where we purchased gorgeous large kilims from soft pale pieces to bright and bold Moldovan Rose Kilims. We had lots made in Turkey too, low level Suzani & Kilim Poufs, Ikat Cushions, Suzani Cushions, Kilim Cushions, Draught Excluders to name a few! New items are in our Latest Arrivals Section and also in their relevant categories on our website.

Other news - You will see that we now have all our rugs measured in Feet and Inches, as well as Centimetres, not everyone gets on with centimetres so we thought it would be helpful to have both - a long job but well worth it.

We have also created a Customer Reviews Section on our website where customers can leave their own review and also choose a star rating up to Five Stars (have a look and see what people are saying about us!).  Some of you may have already left a review but please do feel free to do so if you haven't already.

Making Progress!

We really are making progress with our shipments - As of Thursday 8th November we still have more to price and photograph (larger sizes) and hope to start sorting and categorising more Persian rugs on Sunday this week, so that means more stock being added to the website next week sometime -  keep an eye our our Latest Arrivals Page!!

We hope to have most things uploaded in November but please ask if you have any questions. Once you see them on our site they will be available to buy online or in our Brighton Shop. New Range of Poufs

We were busy when away buying, this is a new range of poufs and large cushions that we have had made - limited amount available in each type.  We have the Persian rectangular floor cushions, bright Uzbek Suzani poufs, soft chocolate Uzbek Suzani poufs and also the gorgeous Kilim one made from a beautiful Kilim from Kars in Eastern Turkey and the round Persian Kilim Pouf - if you would like more info please get in touch - we have stock in our shop but they may not go on our site

We are so busy at this time of year unpacking all our deliveries - its so exciting seeing all the gorgeous things that we purchased in the summer - luckily we now have a warehouse to store them before we filter them through to the Yashar Bish Brighton Shop!!!
