These unusual vintage floral Turkish Bardizi kilim rugs are from Erzurum in Eastern Anatolia. This unique Kelim rug from Turkey is an authentic semi-antique piece and it measures approximately 202x398cm (6.7½ x 13.1ft) excluding any fringes - we love the elegant, regal design in this large old flatweave together with its central medallion motif. Don't miss the date of "1952" woven in by the weaver. This a fantastic statement piece of a rug in an unusual long size. Find out more about Rug Motifs, Symbols & Meaning here.
These kilims usually feature floral patterns in earthy browns, blacks, soft pinks and beiges but can occasionally be found in very quirky abstract designs and in very bright colours. These flatweaves are woven mostly in wool and sometimes have highlighted elements in cotton. They are woven in the traditional flat slit-weave technique and have a similar feel to Caucasian Karabagh kilims (Karabagh means black orchard). For information on our underlays for rugs look here.
