Product Information

These unusual vintage floral Turkish Bardizi kilim rugs are from Erzurum in Eastern Anatolia. This unique Kelim rug from Turkey is an authentic semi-antique piece and it measures approximately 170x305cm (5.6½ x 10ft) excluding any fringes - we really love this gorgeous rug, it has stunning colours and a rose floral flower design in the central field. Don't miss the date of "1977" woven in by the weaver and also the inscription (we cannot decipher that unfortunately). Although this rug is woven in mostly wool the bright colours in some elements of the motifs are woven in bright coloured cotton - this gives a completely different look in that cotton stays bright and changes less over time so that's why the bright detail is still so bright!  Find out more about Rug Motifs, Symbols & Meaning here

These kilims usually feature floral patterns in earthy browns, blacks, soft pinks and beiges but can occasionally be found in very quirky abstract designs and in very bright colours. These flatweaves are woven mostly in wool and sometimes have highlighted elements in cotton. They are woven in the traditional flat slit-weave technique and have a similar feel to Caucasian Karabagh kilims (Karabagh means black orchard). For information on our underlays for rugs look here.
