A decorative vintage Turkoman textile trapping that would have been used during a marriage ceremony as a camel decoration. Usually a mix of different embroidery styles and applique is used together with oddments of old fabrics including, in this case, beautiful old ex Soviet floral textiles - we love the little good luck beads and pretty floral backing on this tribal trapping. This piece measures approximately 31x50cm inc tassels and would make an interesting wall hanging. Normally one of these decorative textiles would be tied to each knee of a camel during a Turkoman wedding procession. Known as “duye dizlyk” (knee pad), they often normal feature triangle patterns which are lucky amulets to ward off bad intent.
